Ose Anenih, son of the late Chief Tony Anenih, has publicly criticized Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu, accusing him of misrepresenting his father’s role in the June 12, 1993, democratic struggle.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Ose alleged that Onanuga not only spread falsehoods but also showed an unusual degree of hostility in his narration of the events surrounding June 12.
The controversy erupted after former Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido, alleged during an interview on Arise TV that President Tinubu supported the annulment of the June 12 election. Lamido also claimed that Tinubu’s late mother, Hajiya Abibatu Mogaji, mobilized market women to Abuja in support of then Head of State, General Ibrahim Babangida.
In response, Onanuga dismissed Lamido’s allegations as historical distortion. He insisted that both Lamido and Chief Tony Anenih colluded with the National Republican Convention (NRC) to deprive Moshood Abiola of his mandate, describing their actions as betrayal.
However, Ose Anenih swiftly countered these claims. In a statement posted on his X (formerly Twitter) account, he rejected Onanuga’s version of events and condemned the language used to describe his father.
“Your portrayal of my father’s involvement in the June 12 crisis is, to put it mildly, false,” Ose stated. “It is deeply disappointing that such untruths would be shared in the name of the Presidency, and with such crude language aimed at Chief Tony Anenih.”
