This legislative initiative is designed to advance the responsible care, upkeep, and oversight of building facilities, both in the public and private sectors.

Spearheaded by Hon Philip Agbese, a representative from the Ado/Okpokwu/Ogbadibo Federal Constituency of Benue State, this bill also endeavors to provide training for professionals specializing in facility management.

These experts will play a pivotal role in ensuring the long-term preservation of the value and functionality of facilities, preventing their deterioration.

During a media briefing at the National Assembly in Abuja on Friday, Paul Erubami, the President of the Associations of Facilities Management Practitioners of Nigeria (AFMPN), expressed appreciation for the bill’s potential to address concerns related to building collapses and the depreciation of property values.

He emphasized the critical role of facility management in national infrastructure development and highlighted how the bill will integrate the concept of facility management into the overall process.
