In a recent development, the Kano State Governorship Election Tribunal has dismissed the petition brought forward by the All Progressive Congress (APC) and its candidate, Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna. CoNTINUE READING
They had questioned the legitimacy of the candidature of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of the NNPP. However, the tribunal ruled that issues related to candidacy are internal matters of the party, which doesn’t concern the plaintiffs and as such, they have no jurisdiction to interfere.
This judgement raised quite a few eyebrows earlier today, especially given the controversies surrounding the tribunal’s decision, notably the fact that the judgment was delivered via Zoom.
