The Kaduna State Government allocates approximately N4 billion annually to provide meals for schoolchildren across the state, according to Dr. Fauziya Buhari-Ado, Governor Uba Sani’s Special Assistant on School Feeding. This initiative aims to address the rising number of out-of-school children in Kaduna State.

Dr. Buhari-Ado emphasized that over 25,000 students in 51 boarding schools across the state’s 23 local government areas benefit from the program. The daily feeding cost per child has been increased from N540 to N700, resulting in the N4 billion annual expenditure.

She highlighted that the program has significantly enhanced school enrollment and daily attendance rates while also stimulating the local economy. Dr. Buhari-Ado reaffirmed the government’s commitment to adhering to menu guidelines, ensuring food quality, quantity, hygiene standards, and prompt service delivery.

Moreover, she noted that the transparent verification process of program beneficiaries has saved the state millions of naira. The initiative, she added, not only relieves parents of the financial burden of providing for their children’s basic needs but also promotes unity among students from diverse cultural and religious backgrounds.
