He acknowledged the widespread economic difficulties resulting from years of mismanagement, corruption, and lack of accountability. However, he assured that President Tinubu is actively implementing policies to address these issues and rejuvenate the economy.
“The President has introduced reforms to revitalize the economy and steer the country toward sustainable development,” Governor Sani said. “While these policy changes may be painful, they are necessary and temporary. The severe economic conditions required decisive action.”
Governor Sani commended the President’s bold approach to economic reform and urged support for these initiatives, stressing that progress is underway. He also addressed the dual challenge of economic reform and security issues in Kaduna State, including banditry, insurgency, and kidnapping.
He emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and stability, given the adverse effects of insecurity on food security, education, healthcare, and the rural economy. “Our state faces significant security challenges that affect various aspects of life. Ensuring peace and stability is crucial for our socio-economic well-being,” he stated.
Governor Sani also noted that no groups in Kaduna State have approached the Nigeria Police about organizing protests, and the state firmly opposes any demonstrations. “We hold our peace dear and are committed to preserving it,” he declared.
At the town hall meeting, participants unanimously opposed the protests, reflecting on negative past experiences. They praised the administration’s efforts to improve security and development and emphasized the importance of prioritizing peace.
The Emir of Zazzau, His Royal Highness Amb. Nuhu Bamalli, also urged caution and advised citizens to prioritize peace, warning of the potential for significant turmoil and instability seen in other African countries due to protests.
