Aruwan, appointed in 2019 by former Governor Nasir El-Rufai as the first Commissioner for Internal Security when the ministry was established, was previously the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media from 2015 to 2019.
The dismissal follows recent developments in which Aruwan was ordered by the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) to step aside along with three other officials due to allegations of breach of trust. On November 8, Aruwan faced six charges related to the alleged false declaration of assets, including failing to disclose bank accounts prior to his appointment as Internal Security Commissioner.
In his place, Governor Sani has appointed James Atung Kanyip as the new Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs.
The reshuffle also saw several other new appointments: Ibrahim Mohammed was named the Commissioner for Finance, Ibrahim Tanko Mohammed was appointed as the Commissioner for Finance (a likely typo or miscommunication in the original release), while Barde Yunana Markus was appointed Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs. Farida Abubakar Ahmed was appointed as the Executive Director of Radio at the Kaduna State Media Corporation (KSMC), and Vitus Azuka Ewuzie was named Senior Special Assistant on Legal Matters.
Further key appointments include Francis Damina as Senior Special Assistant on Research and Documentation, Victor Mathew Bobai as Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs, Abdulmutallib Isah as Senior Special Assistant on Special Duties, and Abdulhaleem Ishaq Ringim as Special Assistant on Economic Matters.
This reshuffle reflects the governor’s ongoing efforts to streamline the state’s leadership and improve governance.
