In an interview with BBC Hausa, Jibrin clarified that the decision was made to provide an opportunity for experts and Nigerians to contribute their views and inputs on the proposed bills.
President Bola Tinubu had submitted four tax reform bills to the National Assembly last month, sparking controversy, particularly among northern governors and other stakeholders who opposed the reforms.
Despite the objections, the Senate moved the four tax bills forward on Thursday, passing them for a second reading via voice votes. Jibrin emphasized that the passage was aimed at enabling further discussion and input from relevant experts and the general public.
