The Nigerian Army has warned residents and farmers in parts of Kaduna State to stay away from the Nigerian Army Military Training Area in Kachia ahead of a two-week live ammunition exercise.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the exercise, tagged Exercise Vulcan Glow XII, is scheduled to take place from October 5 to October 18, 2026, and will involve the use of live ammunition as well as the movement of troops and military equipment within the designated training area.

The warning was contained in a statement issued by Major G.A. Okupe, Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations at the Headquarters of the Nigerian Army Corps of Artillery.

Okupe urged residents and farmers in neighbouring communities to avoid entering or carrying out activities within the military training area throughout the exercise in order to prevent possible safety incidents.

He also appealed to community leaders, stakeholders and media organisations to help circulate the advisory and ensure that people living around the area are adequately informed about the exercise.

According to the Army, Exercise Vulcan Glow XII forms part of the annual training programme of the Corps of Artillery and is intended to strengthen the skills and operational readiness of personnel in artillery operations.

The Army assured residents that necessary safety measures would be implemented throughout the exercise and urged members of the public to comply with the restrictions for their own safety.
