In a statement from Ndidi Mbah, the companyās General Manager for Public Affairs, TCN confirmed that it received notification of the damage from its Shiroro Regional office on Friday. They are currently preparing to deploy a newly acquired āemergency restoration systemā to the site while plans for reconstructing the damaged towers are underway.
According to TCN, the first of the 330kV transmission lines tripped initially, followed closely by the second line during attempts to restore the first. This prompted the urgent mobilization of local vigilantes to patrol the affected areas.
The statement noted, āTCN announces that two towers, T133 and T136, have been vandalized, with significant damage to their cables at multiple points.ā An aerial survey has also been conducted in collaboration with security personnel due to the areaās susceptibility to banditry, which poses a serious threat to TCNās infrastructure and staff.m
