The Kano State Police Command has urged the public to maintain peace and demonstrate patriotism as the Federal High Court prepares to hear significant cases concerning the Emirship dispute. This appeal was conveyed in a statement by SP Abdullahi Jigawa, the command’s spokesperson, issued in Kano on Thursday.
Jigawa reiterated the command’s dedication to safeguarding lives and property, cautioning against any actions that could provoke violence. He emphasized the enforcement of the state government’s prohibition on public protests, processions, and unlawful gatherings in collaboration with other law enforcement agencies.
“Those who violate these regulations, as well as their backers, will face legal consequences,” Jigawa stated. He assured the deployment of adequate security personnel to uphold order and requested the public’s cooperation in providing actionable intelligence to preserve peace and identify troublemakers.
Furthermore, he advised non-state actors, including vigilantes and hunters, against engaging in security operations under any guise.
