Speaking to the press after the discovery, Magaji revealed that approximately 28 trucks of rice palliatives, provided by the Federal Government, were suspected to have been diverted, repackaged, and sold on the open market.

“We have uncovered a serious case of mismanagement and diversion of public goods. These palliatives were meant for the poor and vulnerable, but unfortunately, some individuals are attempting to profit from the suffering of the people,” Magaji said.

He further confirmed that one suspect had been arrested in connection with the case and emphasized that investigations were ongoing to identify and prosecute all those involved.

“The commission will not relent in ensuring that those responsible for this act of corruption face the full weight of the law. We are also working to recover the diverted palliatives and ensure they are properly distributed to those who need them,” Magaji added.
