The severe downpour has split the road into two, forcing drivers to find alternative routes.

During a visit to evaluate the damage, Bauchi State Governor Bala Muhammed highlighted the road’s crucial role as a key link between Nigeria’s Northwest and Northeast regions.

On Thursday, the governor urged the Federal Government to urgently address the road’s deteriorated condition.

“This highway, a vital corridor for the Northeast, has had its dual carriageways entirely washed out,” he stated.

He called for federal intervention and mentioned plans to report the situation to Abuja via the Controller of Works. “If federal assistance is not forthcoming, we will consider implementing temporary or permanent repairs, as we did last rainy season,” he added.
