Alhassan, 55, died on Wednesday after a prolonged battle with cancer. According to a family source speaking with Daily Post, the late councillor, a member of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), passed away at the Mallam Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital.
The family has confirmed that funeral arrangements have been made, with burial set to take place on Thursday morning, following Islamic traditions.
In other news, the Kano State Government has revealed plans to engage in talks with Edo State regarding financial compensation for the families of the 16 travelers who were killed by a mob in Uromi, Edo State, last month.
Kano State’s Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Waiya, confirmed the talks in an interview with Punch, although he did not disclose the compensation amount or the specific date of the meeting. He mentioned that the Kano delegation will be led by Deputy Governor Aminu Gwarzo.
Waiya added, “The compensation figure will be determined during the upcoming meeting between the Kano State Government’s committee, led by Deputy Governor Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, and Edo State government officials.”
