A petrol-laden tanker exploded on Wednesday at Karu Bridge along the Abuja-Nyanya-Keffi road, causing a devastating fire that engulfed at least 30 vehicles. In a statement on Thursday, Mrs. Tinubu expressed her sympathy to the families of the deceased and injured, as well as to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, and the residents affected by the disaster.
The First Lady expressed deep regret over the loss of lives, property, and livelihoods caused by the incident.
“I deeply sympathize with the families of the deceased and the injured, the affected business and property owners, and the residents of Abuja. This is an incredibly painful loss,” she said.
She also urged vehicle owners, particularly those operating articulated trucks, to ensure their vehicles are in good condition to prevent such tragic accidents in the future.
“I urge owners and drivers of vehicles, especially articulated trucks, to ensure their vehicles are roadworthy before using them. This is essential in preventing such tragic events from happening again,” she added.
Mrs. Tinubu prayed for the souls of those who lost their lives in the explosion, asking God to grant their families strength during this difficult time, and wishing the injured a swift recovery.
