Contrary to NYSC’s assertion that Mamudo Saidu Obaje died in a motor accident, his colleague Asta Matthew had earlier claimed on January 7, 2024, through a Facebook post, that the deceased was attacked and killed by bandits while traveling from Kaduna to Katsina for his monthly clearance.

Expressing his discontent with the alleged cover-up, Salifu Obaje took to Facebook a few days ago, affirming that his brother fell victim to banditry and condemning NYSC Katsina’s actions as ‘shameful’ and ‘disgraceful.’

In his heartfelt post, Salifu lamented the loss of his brother, attributing Mamudo Saidu Obaje’s death to a bandit attack during his national assignment in Katsina State. He criticized NYSC Katsina for reporting the incident as an accident, emphasizing the severity of the confrontation with the bandits, evident from the visible cuts and wounds on his brother’s head.

Expressing regret for not being present to assist in the fight against the assailants, Salifu honored his brother’s memory and vowed that those responsible for his untimely demise would not find peace. He detailed his swift response upon hearing the news, recounting the loss of his phone during the journey.

Salifu concluded the post by lamenting the unfortunate timing of Mamudo Saidu Obaje’s death on January 4, 2024, and his subsequent burial on January 10, 2024, deeming it a somber start to the new year.
