Yanmama, upon realizing the mistake, returned the money since she was not involved in the school feeding initiative. As a result, she was recognized and honored on Tuesday by Dr. Mudassir Nasir, the Executive Director of the Katsina State Social Investment Programme Agency.

Nasir explained that Yanmama had received a notification about the payment, which was intended for vendors supplying meals to primary school students. However, since she was not registered as a vendor for the program, she contacted the agency to clarify the issue. The auditor-general’s office verified her claim, confirming that she was not part of the program.

Governor Dikko Radda, upon hearing of Yanmama’s honesty, directed that she be rewarded with ₦500,000, a commendation letter, and an offer to join the school feeding program in the future. Nasir praised Yanmama for her integrity and called on others to follow her example.

Katsina’s Auditor-General, Alhaji Anas Tukur-Abdulƙadir, also lauded Yanmama, noting that she deserved further recognition for her actions.

In response, Yanmama expressed her gratitude, saying, “I knew I had to return the money because it was not mine,” and thanked the governor and the Katsina State Social Investment Programme Agency (KASIPA) for their support and recognition.
