KC Luxury Faces Fresh Setback As Court Extends Detention, Freezes Accounts

The Federal High Court in Lagos has granted the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) an additional 30 days to detain socialite and jeweller, Afolabi Kazeem Micheal, popularly known as KC Luxury.

Justice Akintayo Aluko approved the extension on August 20, 2026, following an application by the anti-drug agency for more time to investigate allegations involving the socialite.

KC Luxury was arrested by NDLEA operatives on August 13 at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.

He was reportedly about to board a flight to Paris when he was taken into custody.

The NDLEA linked his arrest to the seizure of 184.5 kilogrammes of cocaine, which the agency described as part of its largest cocaine recovery operation involving a courier company.

The agency also alleged that cash and jewellery were recovered from KC Luxury at the time of his arrest.

The items reportedly included €7,750, £2,800 and ₦100,000, as well as expensive pieces of jewellery.

Following his continued detention, KC Luxury approached the Federal High Court in Lagos to challenge the legality of the NDLEA’s action.

The suit was filed before Justice Friday Ogazi.

According to TheCable, KC Luxury’s father, Eric Afolabi, filed an affidavit in support of the application.

In the affidavit, he alleged that his son had remained in NDLEA custody since his arrest without being adequately informed of the alleged offence or formally charged before a court.

The family is asking the court to declare KC Luxury’s continued detention unlawful and a violation of his constitutional right to personal liberty.

They are also seeking additional orders concerning his release and the manner in which the case is being handled.

After receiving the court documents, Justice Ogazi directed the NDLEA to respond to the allegations.

The agency was given five days to file its response.

The judge further ordered the NDLEA to produce KC Luxury before the court at the next hearing of the substantive application.

The court also directed that the ex parte motion, enrolled order and other relevant documents be served on the NDLEA within four working days.

The matter has been adjourned until September 9, 2026, when the court is expected to hear the substantive application challenging KC Luxury’s detention.
