Previously, the Labour Party had accused Okonkwo of being a mole after he announced his departure from the party and the Obidient movement. Despite this, Obi expressed disappointment over Okonkwo’s exit, emphasizing his significant contribution to the party’s efforts to create a new Nigeria.

Obi’s comments appear to have influenced Okonkwo, who subsequently took to his X account to advise Nigerians to avoid the Abure-led National Working Committee. He urged Labour Party members to focus on building a stronger party capable of challenging the current administration.

Okonkwo stated, “Abure disgraced himself at an INEC meeting alongside his equally disgraced associate, Umar Farouk. I urge Nigerians and prospective candidates to steer clear of the Abure-led National Working Committee to avoid being deceived.
