In a statement, the minister conveyed, “In light of safety concerns raised by the public in the aviation sector, I have called the heads of the regulatory agencies to my office later today to assess the incidents causing these concerns.
The aim is to ensure that appropriate measures are taken to prevent future occurrences and to impose sanctions, where necessary, in relation to past incidents.”
This decision was made shortly after a United Nigeria Airlines flight, originally bound for Abuja, unexpectedly landed in Asaba, the capital of Delta State.
The flight, departing from Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos on Sunday, deviated from its intended course and landed at Asaba International Airport in Delta State.
