Kogi State Officials Criticize EFCC’s Alleged Witch-Hunt Against Governor Yahaya Bello....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The Kogi State Government has accused the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of engaging in a witch-hunt against the former governor, Yahaya Bello, as stated in a recent release by the state Commissioner for Information, Kingsley Fanwo. The government asserts that this alleged persecution is orchestrated by certain political figures linked to the Presidency, aiming to tarnish Bello’s reputation.

Fanwo emphasized that the state’s finances are intact and urged the EFCC to refrain from implicating Kogi State in its ongoing actions. He criticized the agency for what he perceives as an attempt to besmirch the former governor’s name and to manipulate public opinion against him and other government officials.

Furthermore, Fanwo called upon President Bola Tinubu to initiate a special investigation into the situation in Kogi State to prevent the EFCC from becoming a tool for political agendas. He stressed that those with personal grievances should address them without dragging the state’s name through the mud.

The commissioner reiterated the government’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and anti-corruption efforts since 2016, which has garnered recognition from various national and international bodies. He emphasized the importance of upholding the rule of law and maintaining integrity in the fight against corruption, without allowing political interests to interfere.

In conclusion, Fanwo expressed confidence in the judiciary to uphold justice and protect the government’s integrity. He pledged to continue governing in a manner that earns respect for Kogi State both domestically and internationally, and vowed to safeguard the administration’s integrity at all costs.
