Speaking to journalists in Kano, Illiyasu dismissed the political relevance of the trio, claiming their coalition lacks the power to make a meaningful impact in the upcoming elections. “Let’s examine Kwankwaso—what does he really offer? He’s constantly using the success of others to stay relevant. Just look at how he’s undermining Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State,” Illiyasu stated.
He accused Kwankwaso of prioritizing his personal interests over those of his supporters. “It’s well-known that Kwankwaso aligns himself with the powerful to enrich himself. That’s what he’s doing with President Tinubu—regularly sneaking into the Presidency for personal gain, not for the benefit of others,” Illiyasu alleged, urging Kwankwaso’s supporters to be cautious. He claimed Kwankwaso only fights for his own gain.
On Atiku Abubakar, Illiyasu questioned the former Vice President’s commitment to good governance, pointing out that many of his allies were part of the Buhari administration, which he had criticized for its failures. “Nigerians are asking if Atiku truly believes in good governance when he’s surrounded by politicians who supported Buhari’s eight years of mismanagement, insecurity, and human rights abuses,” Illiyasu said.
Illiyasu further argued that both Atiku and Kwankwaso no longer possess viable political platforms. “The PDP is in an ongoing crisis, and Atiku no longer controls the party. Kwankwaso, on the other hand, has lost control of the NNPP after the court ruled in favor of the faction with the ‘fruits’ logo. So, where do they stand politically?” he asked.
Regarding El-Rufai, Illiyasu dismissed the former Kaduna Governor as a political drifter with no solid foundation. “El-Rufai is just a wanderer, bouncing from one place to another. What does he hope to achieve by joining the already doomed Social Democratic Party (SDP)?”
