The statement highlighted that between January 2020 and January 2024, the current administration has dedicated a significant amount, totaling at least N5.5 billion, to offset salary arrears for SUBEB teachers, local government workers, and local government pensioners. This is separate from the regular monthly financial commitments to these groups and other workers since the government’s assumption of office in 2019.
Furthermore, the government has granted approval and ensured funding for the implementation of the 2022 promotion for both teaching and non-teaching staff of SUBEB. This move underscores the administration’s commitment to the welfare and professional growth of educational personnel.
The conclusive settlement of salary arrears for SUBEB teachers and local government workers marks the resolution of persistent demands for payment that trace back to the years 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019. The government’s proactive measures in addressing these financial obligations demonstrate its dedication to fostering a conducive work environment and meeting the financial needs of its workforce.
