Labour Party Clarifies Position On Disgraced Ex-Treasurer Oparah
The leadership of the Labour Party has instructed former National Treasurer Ms. Oluchi Oparah to cease presenting herself as the party’s National Women Leader.

In a statement released on Thursday by its publicity secretary, Obiora Ifoh, the party clarified that Oparah was suspended indefinitely in November 2023 for alleged anti-party activities, and that this suspension remains in effect.

The statement emphasized that Oparah has never held the position of National Women Leader nor has she ever contested for the role. It described her actions as impersonation, stating, “A person who pretends to be someone else in order to deceive others, especially for fraudulent gain, is an impostor.”

The Labour Party noted that Oparah has been seen at various events fraudulently claiming to be the National Women Leader in an attempt to solicit financial support from organizations. This has caused significant embarrassment to the party, prompting the official disclaimer.

For clarity, the statement reaffirmed that Mrs. Dudu Manuga is the legitimate National Women Leader of the Labour Party, tasked with overseeing the activities of women across Nigeria and beyond.
