Speaking during an interview with Punch, Ifoh emphasized that the law does not recognize any factions within the Labour Party and assured that efforts are underway to reconcile aggrieved members and strengthen the party ahead of the 2027 elections.

“There has never been a faction, to begin with. What we had were certain individuals making baseless claims. In the eyes of the law, the Labour Party has always been united. However, if you don’t stand strong against such claims, they can create unnecessary distractions. That’s what happened,” Ifoh stated.

He further clarified that reports of factionalism within the party were largely a creation of the media. “The so-called factions were never real. When our former chairman, Abdulsalaam (may his soul rest in peace), passed away, the succession process continued as per the law. A convention was held, and new leadership emerged. There has been no division in the Labour Party.”

Ifoh also noted that the party remains focused on reconciliation and unity, prioritizing collective efforts to ensure a formidable performance in future elections. “We are working to bring everyone back into the fold. For us, true celebration will only come after we have achieved victory in the major elections,” he added.
