The Chief Press Secretary to Abia State Deputy Governor, Ikechukwu Emetu, Chukwudi Eke Mba, has dismissed reports that Kalu Mba Nwoke, the Labour Party lawmaker representing Ohafia South in the Abia State House of Assembly, was kidnapped on Saturday.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Eke Mba clarified that Nwoke was actually arrested for allegedly leading a group of thugs to the Ohafia Local Government Secretariat in Ebem, where he attempted to intimidate voters and seize electoral materials.
This clarification came in response to accusations made by Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Etigwe Uwa, who claimed Nwoke was unlawfully detained, assaulted, and removed on election day. Uwa also suggested that security forces acted on the orders of the Deputy Governor.
Eke Mba refuted any involvement from the Deputy Governor, stating that Nwoke’s arrest was lawful due to his obstruction of the electoral process, which is a criminal offense. He further emphasized that there were no instances of political kidnapping in Ohafia before or during the election.
Nwoke, a prominent grassroots politician, was reportedly released by the police on Sunday.
