Olorunfemi criticized a recent stakeholders’ meeting held in Abia State, which appointed Nenadi Usman as the National Caretaker Chairperson, calling the decision illegal. He argued that Usman is not even a registered member of the party in her ward.

In an interview with Arise TV, Olorunfemi said, “Those individuals were accommodated in the party just a couple of years ago. Some of them, like Nenadi Usman, are not even registered members. We checked the party register in her ward, and her name isn’t there. She hasn’t contributed to the ward or the state.”

Responding to the suggestion that prominent Labour Party figures like Peter Obi and Datti Baba-Ahmed attended the Abia meeting, Olorunfemi dismissed it, stating that no true leaders of the party were present. He also rejected the notion that the Labour Party’s success relied solely on Peter Obi, asserting that Nigerians are looking for genuine leadership, not “hypocrites” like Obi, Otti, and Datti.

Olorunfemi further explained that leadership in the Labour Party is earned through contributions and activities within the party, not by self-proclaimed titles. He emphasized that the Governor of Abia, Alex Otti, has no authority to convene any meeting for the party, and such actions are unconstitutional.

He went on to accuse Obi, Otti, and Datti of fueling the ongoing crisis within the Labour Party. “The people who called this meeting are the same individuals causing the internal conflict. We will address this issue according to our constitution, which is the supreme law of the party.”

Olorunfemi also denied claims that Abure’s leadership failed to empower elected officials to manage state and ward executives, challenging anyone to provide proof of such allegations. He cited Ondo State as an example where the party has functional executives at all levels.
