Lagos Airport Bust: NDLEA Detains Two Businessmen And Nurse For Cocaine TraffickingThe National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has reported the arrest of two businessmen, Ihejirika Okechukwu Emmanuel and Iwuagwu Ikedi Victory, along with Canada-based nurse Usman Grace Khadijat Olami, at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Ikeja, Lagos. Ihejirika was apprehended on October 15, 2024, while preparing to board an Ethiopian Airlines flight to Thailand via Addis Ababa. According to Femi Babafemi, Director of Media & Advocacy at NDLEA Headquarters in Abuja, a body scan revealed that he had ingested cocaine. He later expelled five large wraps of the drug, weighing a total of 400 grams. The 51-year-old suspect confessed that he was promised payment upon successful delivery of the drugs in Thailand, as he needed the funds to support his fish importation business.
In a separate incident, NDLEA operatives also intercepted Iwuagwu Ikedi Victory, a 26-year-old businessman arriving from Brazil via Addis Ababa, during passenger clearance on an Ethiopian Airlines flight.
