Lagos Assembly Shakes As Mojisola Meranda Takes Over As Speaker Amidst Allegations Of Misconduct Details

Fatai’s election follows the promotion of Mojisola Lasbat-Meranda of Apapa Constituency 1 to the position of Speaker, succeeding Mudashiru Obasa who was impeached on Monday for allegations of gross misconduct and abuse of office.
Meanwhile, Obasa has dismissed recent allegations, including a claim that the House spent 17 billion naira on a gate, as unfounded and politically motivated. This was emphasized in a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Eromosele Ebhomele.
Obasa also refuted claims regarding an alleged N200 million expenditure on a thanksgiving service, as well as his involvement with the chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede.
