The Lagos State Government has issued a stern warning to supermarkets and grocery stores across the region, mandating the display of price tags on all products. Failure to adhere to this directive may result in the sealing of non-compliant establishments, as announced by the Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency (LASCOPA) on Saturday, April 6.
This move comes as part of efforts to promote transparency and protect consumers from potential price exploitation. LASCOPA emphasized the importance of clear price tags in preventing misunderstandings and ensuring a more straightforward shopping experience for consumers.
Mr. Afolabi Solebo, the General Manager of LASCOPA, stressed that the absence of price tags infringes upon consumer rights and violates relevant laws. He highlighted the significance of transparent pricing in enabling informed purchasing decisions and underscored the agency’s commitment to upholding consumer protection laws.
