Lagos Man In Court For Allegedly Starving And Beating His 11-Year-Old Stepson

A 45-year-old man, Aramide Tito, appeared in a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court on Monday for allegedly starving and assaulting his 11-year-old stepson.
Tito, whose address was not provided, is facing charges of indecent dealing, assault, and attempted murder.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to all charges.
Prosecutor ASP Clément Okuoimose informed the court that the offenses were committed on August 17, around 11:00 p.m., in the Oke Ogbe area of Atura, Badagry, Lagos.
Okuoimose alleged that Tito unlawfully beat and starved his stepson for three days.
“The defendant poured hot water on the boy while he was sleeping and attempted to murder him,” Okuoimose stated.
The prosecutor noted that the actions of the defendant violated Sections 135, 245, and 230 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
Chief Magistrate Mr. A.J. Aina granted bail to the defendant in the sum of N100,000, with two sureties in like sum.
He stated that each surety must be gainfully employed.
The case was adjourned until September 25 for a hearing.
