Lagos NNPP Welcomes Emir Sanusi’s Return, Hopes For Continued Progress In Kano

The State’s Publicity Secretary for the NNPP, Richard Benson, commended the significance of the former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor’s return in maintaining the sanctity of tradition. Benson also praised the contributions of former governor and 2023 Presidential Candidate for the NNPP, Sen. Rabiu Kwankwaso, in preserving this tradition.

Benson criticized certain politicians for exploiting the nation’s fundamental customs and cultural legacy for political gain. He urged NNPP supporters, including Yusuf, Kwankwaso, and the Kano State House of Assembly members, to unite in setting an example for other states.

“We, the New Nigeria People’s Party, Lagos State chapter, commend the efforts of Governor Abba Yusuf, our National Leader Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, and the entire Kano House of Assembly in ensuring the preservation of our cultural heritage based on truth. The recent developments in Kano prove that the cultural heritage of the ancient city is preserved, and the people are pleased to see their traditions and core values intact.

“We are delighted with the efforts to restore and preserve the values, traditions, and heritage of the people, and the commitment to restore the lost glory of the ancient city of Kano,” Benson stated.

Naija News previously reported that on May 23, Governor Yusuf officially signed the revised Kano State Emirates Council bill. This bill, approved by the Kano State House of Assembly, dissolved the Emirate Council and removed the five Emirs appointed by the previous governor, Abdullahi Ganduje. Governor Yusuf also reinstated Sanusi, who was removed from power in 2020.

The repealed Kano State Emirates Council Law of 2019, signed by former Governor Ganduje, had established five Emirates: Kano, Bichi, Rano, Gaya, and Karaye. On March 9, 2020, Sanusi was removed from office for insubordination, and Aminu Ado Bayero was appointed as the new Emir
