Lagos Police PRO Warns Against Covered License Plates, Outlines Penalties

The spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, has advised Nigerians against covering their vehicle number plates without proper authorization from the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).

While some Nigerians cover their plates for security reasons or as a status symbol, Hundeyin emphasized that unauthorized covering is a violation of the National Road Traffic Regulations. In a post on X, he warned that such violations can result in fines or imprisonment upon conviction. His message read: “Covering of number plates contravenes the National Road Traffic Regulations. Convictions can lead to fines or prison terms. Ignorance of the law is no excuse. Forewarned is forearmed!”
