LASEPA Reveals Agege As The Most Polluted Area In Lagos Air Quality RankingsThe Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has released its latest Air Quality Index, identifying Agege as the area with the most hazardous air quality in the state. Surulere followed closely, ranking second with a score of 76.1 percent, classified as “very unhealthy.” Other areas of concern included Mushin, which recorded 47.3 percent, and LAMATA Kosefe at 46 percent, both categorized as “unhealthy.”
The Lagos Port in Apapa scored 36.4 percent, while Badagry registered 23.8 percent, and Moloney Street came in at 20.7 percent—all deemed “unhealthy for sensitive groups.” Egbeda showed a reading of 15.7 percent, and NIMET Oshodi recorded 14.1 percent, both rated as having “moderate” air quality. Locations such as General Hospital Ikeja (12.6 percent) and LSDPC Estate on Lagos Island (12.1 percent) also displayed moderate pollution levels.
In contrast, Lekki had the lowest pollution levels, scoring 10.1 percent, which indicates “good” air quality, closely followed by LASEPA’s own station at 7.6 percent.
While acknowledging the subpar air quality in many areas, LASEPA reassured residents that the agency is actively working to enhance the state’s environmental health.
