Ajaero remarked that the severity of the beating he endured during his time in police custody seemed to suggest that God had devoted extra time in creating him.
It’s worth recalling that a group of troublemakers disrupted the NLC’s protest in Owerri, the capital of Imo State.
The NLC president had traveled to Owerri to mobilize Imo workers for a large-scale protest against the alleged violation and abuse of workers’ rights and privileges by the state government.
The violent incidents that occurred during the protest led to Ajaero being taken into police custody by the Nigeria Police Force.
Upon his release, Ajaero disclosed that the police had threatened to take legal action against him.
Ajaero stated, “When they mentioned an interim order, I reminded them that such an order has a limited validity, typically one to two weeks.
They retained the document and warned me about potential prosecution. I emphasized that only the court had the authority to institute a contempt charge, and that prosecuting me directly was inappropriate.
The physical abuse I endured was so severe that it felt as though God had taken extra time to create me.”
