During a meeting with the National Security Adviser, the INEC Chairman, and other stakeholders last week, Gen. Musa stressed the importance of conducting credible and peaceful elections and considered it a top priority.
He further emphasized the end of an era where violence was used to intimidate voters and steal ballot boxes. Gen. Musa warned those planning acts of violence to stay away from the elections in the three states.
Additionally, he declared that any member of the armed forces found compromising the election would face a court-martial.
This statement comes in anticipation of the governorship elections in Imo, Kogi, and Bayelsa, set to take place next weekend, where residents will cast their votes for their preferred governorship candidates. The outcome will determine the leadership of these states for the next four years.
