Among the new entrants were Bem Angwe, a former National Legal Adviser of the NNPP and a former Benue State gubernatorial candidate.
Additionally, 23 individuals from the NNPP and PDP also joined the ranks of the ruling party.
Addressing the gathering on behalf of the defectors, Alkali clarified that their decision to join the APC was not merely because it was the ruling party.
Instead, they saw the APC as the most suitable platform for political progress, having departed from the NNPP.
He expressed their confidence in the new political atmosphere in the country and the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC under the capable and distinguished chairmanship of Abdullahi Ganduje.
The defectors believed that the APC had ushered in a new era in Nigerian party politics—one that is more inclusive and welcoming.
In conclusion, Alkali conveyed their readiness to return to their respective states, local government areas, and wards to mobilize support, emphasizing their commitment to ensuring that the APC’s success continues under the leadership of Abdullahi Ganduje.
Ganduje, in response, noted that the NNPP had been influenced and tainted by a faction known as “Kwankwassiya.
He assured the defectors that they would be given an equitable opportunity and integrated into the APC’s activities, free from any bias.
