Benson Upah, the NLC Publicity Secretary, verified this information to the Nation newspaper.
Reportedly, the nature of the injuries Ajaero sustained during the confrontation made it impossible for him to receive treatment at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Owerri.
Ajaero had visited Owerri on Wednesday, November 1, to organize Imo workers for a protest rally against the alleged violation and abuse of workers’ rights and privileges by the state government.
However, when a large number of protesters gathered, Ajaero was taken away by individuals purportedly affiliated with the Nigeria Police.
After his release, Ajaero exhibited facial injuries, revealing that he had been subjected to brutality and mistreatment by those who briefly abducted him.
