Lawmaker Ifeanyi Ubah Reveals Plans for South-East Leaders to Meet with President Tinubu to Discuss Possible Release of Nnamdi Kanu

Ifeanyi Ubah, the representative of Anambra South Senatorial District, has announced that South-East leaders are preparing to hold a meeting with President Bola Tinubu to discuss the potential release of Nnamdi Kanu.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Ubah made this disclosure during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily on Thursday.

It should be recalled that Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has been in detention for approximately two years.

According to Ubah, the release of Kanu would contribute to reducing insecurity in the South-East geopolitical zone.

He stated, “There is a resolution that we are going to meet with the president and we will plead for his leniency and explore the possibility of having Nnamdi Kanu released.”

“We have taken that position, and some of us in the Senate, within our caucus, have also taken that position,” he added.

Ubah emphasized that Kanu’s release would be a key topic of discussion once they are able to engage in talks with the President.

The senator further highlighted the connection between the release of the IPOB leader and the security situation in the South-East.

In addition, Ubah clarified that Kanu does not support the sit-at-home orders and has publicly expressed his stance during one of his court appearances.

Ubah expressed regret over the recent surge in sit-at-home orders, which has had a detrimental impact on the region’s economy.

He stated, “The agitation is different. We are talking about sit-at-home, which is greatly deteriorating the economy of the Southeast region. The agitation is a political issue related to the inequities in how an Igbo man is perceived in Nigeria.”
