The House of Representatives has urged President Bola Tinubu to carefully review the Oronsaye report before proceeding with its implementation. During the Thursday plenary session, a resolution of urgent public importance was presented by Kama Nkemkanma and two other members, leading to this call.

Nevertheless, the House specifically requested Tinubu to oversee a comprehensive examination of the Goni Aji Report, which scrutinizes various documents such as the Oronsaye Report (2012), the Ama Pepple White Paper, the Ebele Okeke White Paper, the White Paper issued during President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration, and the White Paper stemming from the Oronsaye Report (2012). This examination is to be conducted in consideration of the current circumstances.

Nkemkanma, the initiator of the motion, emphasized that the complete execution of the 2012 Oronsaye report in 2024 would inevitably lead to unforeseen ramifications, implications, and outcomes. He contended that the full implementation would not significantly reduce the cost of governance, as it fails to align with the current state of the Public Service of the Federation.

The motion was swiftly adopted and passed without debate.

Earlier, Naija News reported that President Bola Tinubu had issued a directive on Monday for the implementation of the Oronsaye report. Concerns arose about potential widespread job losses following this directive. However, the government, under President Bola Tinubu’s leadership, has assured that implementing the report will not lead to any job losses.
