The fresh wave of protests was triggered by the public disclosure of the Certified True Copy of the judgment, which appears to contradict the appellate court’s initial verdict. Demonstrators, armed with various banners, are rallying in solidarity with Governor Yusuf, challenging the legitimacy of the recent decision.

SaharaReporters had previously detailed the Court of Appeal’s certified copy, which set aside the ruling of the Election Petitions Tribunal, ultimately dismissing Governor Yusuf’s appeal. The court’s position contradicted the tribunal’s judgment, creating confusion and sparking public outcry.

In the certified court documents obtained by SaharaReporters, Yusuf Abba Kabir serves as the appellant, while the APC, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) function as the first, second, and third respondents, respectively.

Justice Moore Aseimo Abraham Adumen, in reading the court’s ruling, stated, “I will conclude by stating that the live issues in this appeal are hereby resolved in favour of the 1 respondent and against the appellant. In the circumstances, I resolve all the issues in favour of the appellant and against the 1 respondent.”
