Leeds Crush Newcastle 4-1 To Storm Into Premier League Top Three

Leeds United produced an impressive display at Elland Road, defeating Newcastle United 4-1 to climb to third place in the Premier League standings.

According to Bush Radio Academy, Daniel Farke’s side delivered a devastating spell towards the end of the first half, scoring three goals within 14 minutes to put Newcastle in serious trouble before the break.

Leeds opened the scoring in the 32nd minute when Ao Tanaka’s effort took a series of deflections off Sean Steur and Lewis Miley before finding its way into the bottom corner, leaving Newcastle goalkeeper Lukas Hornicek with little opportunity to make a save.

The home side doubled their advantage just two minutes and 42 seconds later. Dominic Calvert-Lewin initially appeared to have headed the ball into the net, but Jayden Bogle got the decisive final touch, resulting in the goal being recorded as an own goal against Newcastle.

Newcastle struggled to recover from the sudden setback, and Leeds added a third goal during first-half stoppage time. This time, Calvert-Lewin found the back of the net himself, calmly finishing across Hornicek to register his eighth career goal against Newcastle.

The Magpies were expected to respond strongly after the interval, but Leeds continued to control proceedings and extended their lead in the second half.

Substitute Noah Okafor completed the hosts’ dominant performance by scoring Leeds’ fourth goal, further underlining the gulf between the two teams on the night.

Newcastle managed to reduce the deficit in the 90th minute when substitute Bazoumana Toure scored, but the late effort came too late to inspire a comeback.

The emphatic victory moved Leeds into third place with eight points from their opening matches of the campaign. They now sit four points behind league leaders and reigning champions Arsenal, while Newcastle were left to reflect on a heavy defeat at Elland Road.
