Legal Fireworks Ahead! Adeyanju Reacts Boldly To Peter Obi’s Lawsuit

Former Anambra State Governor and Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has threatened legal action against rights activist and lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, over alleged defamatory remarks.

Obi’s legal representatives, Ejesimen & Co (Madiba Chambers, SAN), issued a formal notice accusing Adeyanju of consistently publishing derogatory statements about the former governor on X (formerly Twitter) and other social media platforms.

The notice specifically cited a post dated August 21, in which Adeyanju accused Obi of diverting funds from the Anambra State treasury into his family business. In the same post, Adeyanju also alleged that Obi once attempted to give him money under the guise of a token of appreciation.

Obi’s lawyers described these allegations as “false, malicious and defamatory,” demanding an immediate public retraction and a written apology.

Adeyanju Responds: “I Can’t Wait to Meet Him in Court”

Reacting to the legal threat, Adeyanju dismissed Obi’s notice in a post on his X handle late Wednesday, daring the ex-governor to proceed with the lawsuit.

“Just got this letter from Peter Obi the religious bigot demanding a retraction from me. I laughed so hard. I can’t wait to meet him in court finally. A fraud parading himself as a messiah,” Adeyanju wrote.

He further accused Obi of directing his supporters to harass critics online, adding:

“We served his little errand girl Serah a letter to retract her defamatory publications against my wife, and she ran to the leader of the mob for help. Obi cannot save her. I am ready for him in court 100%.”

Adeyanju, a vocal critic of Obi, has consistently argued that the Labour Party candidate stands no realistic chance of becoming Nigeria’s president. He has also frequently clashed with Obi’s supporters, popularly known as the Obidients, over his controversial social media posts.

In a recent Facebook update, Adeyanju insisted it was already “too late” for Obi to ever emerge as Nigeria’s leader.
