The widely circulated video captured the moment Senator Musa appeared caught off guard when Senate President Godswill Akpabio asked him to define the term. However, in a statement released on Friday, Musa clarified that he was preparing to respond when Senator Abdul Ningi raised a point of order, which, in line with parliamentary rules, took precedence.

“My attention has been drawn to a misleading narrative circulating on social media and blogs, claiming I was embarrassed and unable to define the word ‘harmonize’ on the Senate floor,” Musa stated. “This is entirely false. I was ready to respond, but the point of order raised by Senator Ningi rightly overruled the conversation at that moment. Sadly, that context has been either deliberately or ignorantly left out, leading to a distorted account of what really happened.”

He further highlighted his role in chairing the legislative processes and leading the conference committee responsible for harmonizing the Tax Reform Bills—major legislation that received commendation from both legislative chambers.

“The technical depth and bipartisan cooperation involved in that process demonstrate the competence and leadership I bring to my work,” Musa said.

While acknowledging that public officials are open to scrutiny, the senator called on media platforms—especially Linda Ikeji’s blog—to prioritize accuracy and responsible reporting over clickbait.
