1. Anthony Joshua
On Monday, December 9, 2025, former world heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua narrowly escaped death in a road traffic accident along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway near Makun, Ogun State.

The crash involved an SUV traveling from Lagos to Sagamu and tragically claimed the lives of two male foreign nationals: Ayodele Kelvin Olu (36), a Nigerian/British citizen, and Gami Sina (36), a British citizen. Remarkably, Joshua emerged from the accident unhurt.

2. CDQ
Nigerian rapper Sodiq Abubakar Yusuf, popularly known as CDQ, was involved in a car crash in Lagos on August 15, 2023. Sharing videos from the scene on social media, CDQ revealed that his vehicle was severely damaged, but he escaped without serious injuries.

3. Dunsin Oyekan
Nigerian gospel singer Dunsin Oyekan survived a near-fatal accident on September 3, 2022, while traveling from Lagos to Ibadan for a church ministration. Some members of his crew sustained minor injuries, but no lives were lost. Recounting the incident during a church service, Oyekan described it as miraculous, revealing that their vehicle had gone under a trailer.

4. Burna Boy
Grammy Award-winning singer Dami Ogulu, professionally known as Burna Boy, was involved in a car accident on February 26, 2022, in Lekki, Lagos, while driving his Ferrari 458. In a post on Instagram, the “Stand Tall” singer said he sustained only minor injuries and expressed frustration that bystanders prioritized recording the scene over offering help.

5. Harrysong
On June 24, 2016, Afropop singer Harrison Tare Okiri, known as Harrysong, survived a car accident while traveling with his team from Owerri to catch a flight to Lagos. He took to Instagram to express gratitude for his survival, describing the experience as a close brush with death.

These incidents highlight the persistent dangers on Nigerian roads and the miraculous escapes of some of the country’s biggest stars.
