Speaking in an interview with Channels Television on Friday, Buratai likened the proposed border closure to the measures taken during the COVID-19 pandemic, noting it could help curb the spread of insecurity.
He further emphasized the importance of community resilience, urging collaboration among political, traditional, and religious leaders to develop sustainable strategies against insecurity.
Buratai recalled that he had earlier warned that insurgency would be prolonged, hence the necessity for a long-term security plan.
The former Army Chief, who served under ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, insisted that the military should be regarded as a partner in resolving insecurity, not as a hindrance.
