London To Lagos: Solo Driver Pelumi Nubi’s 68-Day Travel Chronicle

A 28-year-old individual passionate about travel and content creation, Pelumi Nubi, has successfully completed her solo road trip from London to Lagos, arriving in Nigeria’s vibrant capital city. At the Nigeria-Benin Republic border, she was warmly welcomed by Toke Benson-Awoyinka, the Commissioner of Tourism, Arts, and Culture for Lagos State, alongside Idris Aregbe, the Special Adviser for Tourism, Arts, and Culture.

According to a report by Naija News, Nubi embarked on her journey on January 31, 2024, facing various challenges along the way. These obstacles included a 24-hour delay at the Liberia border, refusal of entry into Sierra Leone, and a harrowing accident in Liberia just a day after her arrival.

Commencing her expedition in England, Nubi traversed through France and Spain, ventured into Morocco, crossed the vast West Sahara Desert, and continued her journey through Mauritania, Senegal, The Gambia, Guinea-Bissau, Guinea, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Mali, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Togo, and Benin before finally reaching Lagos.

In 2022, at the age of 27, Nubi had already explored 77 countries, surpassing a remarkable 80 nations out of the world’s 193.

Driven by her thirst for adventure, Nubi aimed to challenge the notion of impossibility, asserting that with determination and perseverance, barriers considered insurmountable can be conquered.

In a post shared by Gboyega Akosile, the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, it was announced, “Lagos State Government gives a hero’s welcome to @peluminubi_, a Nigeria-British citizen who did a solo drive from London to Lagos. Pelumi was received at the Nigeria-Benin Republic border on behalf of Lagos State Government by the Hon Commissioner of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs Toke Benson-Awoyinka and the Special Adviser, Tourism, Arts and Culture @IdrisConnecting.
