Viral Video Captures Imo Youths Setting Fire To Hotel Amid Murder Claims

Youths in Umulogho community, Obowo Local Government Area of Imo State, were reportedly driven to set fire to a section of a hotel following the alleged killing of a staff member, Ebuka Nwaneri, amidst accusations of theft. The incident stemmed from allegations that Nwaneri had stolen a phone belonging to a military personnel who had visited the hotel over the weekend.

According to sources within the community, the hotel owner, Ibe Obasi, and the military personnel accused the staff member of stealing the phone. Nwaneri was allegedly locked up in a generator house in an attempt to force a confession.

Tragically, Nwaneri reportedly succumbed to the alleged torture, and his body was purportedly disposed of by being tossed over the hotel’s fence into the nearby bush. The discovery of his corpse on Saturday morning led to enraged youths forcefully entering the hotel premises and setting fire to a portion of the building.

Demanding justice, the community’s youth threatened retaliation against the hotel owner’s family if appropriate actions were not taken. Calls have been made for the case to be transferred to police headquarters to prevent potential mob violence.

Youth President Chinagorom Cyriacus urged calm among the community’s youth, promising that all responsible parties would be held accountable through legal means. Efforts are underway by the Umulogho Autonomous Community leadership to address the situation, with the police and military involved in managing the escalating tensions.

The Imo Police Command is actively involved in investigating the matter, while the Army Public Relations Officer emphasized that any soldier found to be involved in the incident would face consequences for indiscipline. It was reiterated that the army has no involvement in the matter and that those found guilty will be held accountable.
