Love Scars Run Deep: Jim Iyke Reveals Why He’ll Never Remarry After Divorce

Nollywood star Jim Iyke has reflected on his experiences with divorce, fatherhood, and personal transformation, sharing why he has chosen not to remarry.

In an interview with Saturday Punch, the actor emphasized that parenting, for him, is about living by example. He explained that his son imitates everything about him—from the way he dresses and sits to how he speaks—so he strives to live consciously, steering clear of unnecessary controversies.

Iyke said his greatest responsibility is raising a child who sees strength, resilience, and restraint in him, rather than someone defined by conflicts.

Addressing remarriage, the actor revealed he has firmly ruled it out. He recounted that his first marriage happened at his lowest point, soon after his mother’s death. The union, he explained, was strained by cultural differences and racial tensions, which ultimately drained him emotionally.

Despite the marriage ending, Iyke maintains a rare and cordial relationship with his ex-wife. He described their bond as one rooted in friendship and mutual respect, with both prioritizing stability for their son.

“I have no plans to remarry,” he said. “I take full responsibility for that union. She’s a great person, and I’m a good man. But marriage mixed with fame is tough, and ours happened when I was at my lowest. Still, we’ve built something rare—a great post-divorce family. My ex still involves me in family matters, sometimes even picking me up from the airport with her new partner. That’s intentional, because our child didn’t choose to be born.”
