The United Arab Emirates has identified eight categories of foreign nationals who may qualify for its Golden Visa under the extraordinary talents and specialised fields category.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the UAE Golden Visa is a long-term residency programme designed to allow eligible foreign nationals to live, work or study in the country while enjoying a range of residency benefits.

Under the extraordinary talents and uncommon specialisations category, eight groups of individuals are eligible for consideration.

The first category covers physicians and other healthcare professionals who meet the UAE’s relevant qualification requirements. Scientists, scholars and researchers who have made recognised contributions to their respective fields are also included.

Inventors with unique creations or registered patents can qualify under the scheme, while cultural and artistic creatives, including performers, artists and other professionals with notable portfolios, are also covered.

Senior executives and professionals who have demonstrated leadership in their respective fields form another eligible category. Athletes who have achieved recognised accomplishments in their sporting careers are also included.

People holding PhD degrees from recognised universities may qualify under the specialisations pathway. The final category consists of experts working in sectors considered strategically important to the UAE, particularly specialists in scientific and engineering fields.

The Golden Visa is one of the UAE’s initiatives aimed at attracting international talent and highly skilled professionals. Unlike conventional residency arrangements that generally require periodic renewal, the programme provides eligible individuals with longer-term residency security.

The UAE uses the extraordinary talents and specialised fields pathway as one of several routes through which foreign nationals can obtain Golden Visa status, with the aim of attracting expertise that aligns with the country’s development priorities.

Separately, UAE government information indicates that certain entry permits are issued to holders of diplomatic cards, international organisations, private organisations and consular organisations, as well as employees sponsored by relevant missions.

The Golden Visa eligibility requirements vary according to the applicant’s category, qualifications and supporting documentation, meaning prospective applicants are expected to meet the specific conditions applicable to their area of specialisation.
