Makinde Has What It Takes To Lead Nigeria” — Fayose Sparks 2027 Buzz!

Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has clarified that Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has no intention of running for president in 2027.

Fayose stated that Makinde personally assured him he would not allow himself to be used against President Bola Tinubu in the next election cycle.

Speaking on Channels TV’s Politics Today on Friday, Fayose shared insights from a private discussion he had with Makinde after noticing a social media advertisement suggesting the governor’s potential presidential ambition.

“When I came across the advert online, with all due respect to Governor Makinde, I sent it to him directly,” Fayose said. “He called me back and made it clear he had no involvement with the posters and that he isn’t planning to contest.”

Fayose emphasized his trust in Makinde’s words, adding, “I won’t misquote him. As a brother, I take him at his word. He told me he wouldn’t be used against a fellow Yoruba man in power. Unless something changes, Makinde is not running for president.”
